Sofsilk™ silk sutures are manufactured from silk protein sourced from the domesticated silkworm Bombyx mori of the Bombycidae family. During processing, the naturally occurring sericin gum is removed from the silk fibres, which are then braided to form high-quality surgical sutures. The braided sutures are uniformly coated with either silicone or 100% beeswax for smooth handling and reliable performance.
Sofsilk™ silk sutures are intended for general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation across a wide range of surgical procedures.
