Biosyn synthetic absorbable sutures are made from Glomar 631, a synthetic polyester composed of glycoside (60%), diolamine (14%), and trimethylene carbonate (26%). These sutures are available in violet for enhanced visibility and also in an undyed version. They are designed for general soft tissue approximation and ligation, including ophthalmic procedures. However, they are not recommended for cardiovascular or neurological surgeries.
