AQUACEL™ Ag foam dressing, adhesive and non adhesive, is a range of sterile Hydrofiber™ foam wound dressings consisting of a waterproof outer polyurethane film and a multi-layered absorbent pad; with the adhesive dressing having a silicone adhesive border. The multi-layered absorbent pad contains a layer of polyurethane foam and a non-woven wound contact layer of Hydrofiber™ technology (sodium carboxymethylcellulose).

The dressing’s Hydrofiber™ wound contact layer contains 1.2 % w/w ionic silver. The silver in the dressing kills a broad spectrum of wound bacteria, and helps reduce the risk of wound infection. The outer film layer provides a waterproof viral and bacterial barrier which protects the wound from external contaminants, reducing the risk of infection. The film also helps to manage the moisture vapor transmission of the exudate absorbed by the dressing.The foam and Hydrofiber™ materials within the pad absorb high amounts of wound fluid and bacteria. The Hydrofiber™ wound contact layer creates a soft, cohesive gel that intimately conforms to the wound surface, maintains a moist environment in the wound (which supports the body’s healing process) and aids in the removal of non-viable tissue from the wound (autolytic debridement) without damaging tissue. 

The dressing’s non-adherent wound contact layer allows for minimal trauma on removal. The adhesive dressings in the range have a silicone border which provides secure, skin-friendly adhesion and supports nontraumatic dressing removal. AQUACEL™ Ag foam dressing may be used as a primary or as a secondary dressing. It may be used alone or in combination with other wound care products and can be cut to shape and size, as directed by a healthcare professional.  If the adhesive dressing is cut, additional tape may be required to secure it in place. 

Additional tape, or other means of fixation, will be required to secure the AQUACEL™ Ag foam non adhesive dressing in place. AQUACEL™ Ag foam adhesive dressing’s film backing acts as a barrier to the wound against bacterial and blood-borne viral pathogens (e.g. HIV and Hepatitis viruses). The use of this dressing neither guarantees nor warrantees against AIDS or Hepatitis virus transmission.
