[Webinar] A Fundamental Guide to Reprocessing Medical & Other Devices

Any device, medical or otherwise, that intends to be reused, must be reprocessed. Reprocessing is a multi-step process involving cleaning, disinfection and/or sterilisation. This webinar will discuss some fundamentals of reprocessing devices including Spaulding’s classification for medical and other devices, AS 5369:2023 and its implications, as well as water testing requirements for facilities.

This webinar will be presented by Dr Greg Whiteley, Executive Chairman of Whiteley.

Whiteley has sponsored research into biofilm contamination on medical devices and healthcare surfaces for more than 30 years. Much of the research has been groundbreaking and resulted in seminal publications within the field of applied microbiology. Whiteley research how superbugs bind onto surfaces and the transfer mechanisms that lead to infecting others. Understanding how to stop these biofilms from forming and contributing to patient infections has the potential to save thousands of lives. The intent is not to replace antibiotics but to provide additional processes and defences in the prevention and treatment of infections. Whiteley strives to continue delivering leading cleaning and disinfection technology to the market.

By attending this webinar, participants will:

  • Learn what considerations are required when reprocessing medical and other devices.
  • Understand the new guidelines AS 5369:2023 for healthcare facilities.
  • Understand the process and requirements for water testing in healthcare facilities.
