Maxon synthetic absorbable sutures are made from polyglyconate, a copolymer of glycolic acid and trimethylene carbonate.
The advanced extrusion process of polyglyconate provides the suture with:

- Minimal memory for easy use
Maxon sutures are suitable for general soft tissue approximation and ligation, including pediatric cardiovascular procedures where tissue growth is expected, and peripheral vascular surgeries. They are not recommended for adult cardiovascular tissue, ophthalmic procedures, microsurgery, or neural tissues.
