EquaGel™ Protector Cushion
The EquaGel™ Protector cushion combines advanced gel technology with ergonomic contouring to deliver exceptional comfort, stability, and pressure redistribution. It features 6.45 cm (2.5") of patented EquaGel™ with a 2.54 cm (1") trochanter contour for enhanced pelvic support, positioned on a 1.27 cm (0.5") stability foam base.
Key Features
- 100% EquaGel™ Construction
- 6.35 cm (2.5") Dual-Layer EquaGel™ Design:
- Top Layer: Thin-walled gel with a tighter grid for enhanced comfort.
- Bottom Layer: Thicker gel walls with a wider grid for deep postural support.
- Contoured Pelvic Zone: Designed to distribute body weight more evenly than flat cushions while retaining 4.45 cm (1.75") of buckling gel beneath key pressure points.
- Performance Cover: Fluid-resistant, vapour-permeable, and flame-resistant for hygiene, comfort, and safety.
About EquaGel™
EquaGel™ is a dry-polymer gel with a soft, rubber-like feel. It is highly durable with excellent tensile and compression strength, but its true innovation lies in its column-buckling technology.
How It Works
Each gel wall supports a small amount of pressure. When this limit is exceeded, the wall gently collapses (or “buckles”) into the adjacent hollow space, transferring weight to the surrounding walls. This process repeats instantly and continuously, helping to equalise pressure across the seating surface.
This “buckling and weight-passing” effect reduces peak pressure beneath the ischial tuberosities and coccyx/sacrum, creating a sensation of “floating” at the most vulnerable points while maintaining support under the thighs and buttocks.
Two-Stage Buckling System
- Comfort Layer: A smaller, more responsive gel grid that offers immediate comfort and allows the user to settle naturally.
- Support Layer: Provides deeper immersion for high-pressure areas to maintain alignment and posture while supporting the rest of the body.
Some EquaGel™ cushions also include a pelvic contour that mimics natural sitting posture and further redistributes pressure away from sensitive areas.
