BD Vacutainer® PPT™ Information
The BD Vacutainer® PPT™ is a closed system designed for the separation and preservation of undiluted EDTA plasma within the primary blood collection tube. Its primary purpose is to facilitate molecular diagnostic testing.
The PPT™ is a sterile blood collection tube with a vacuum inside, constructed from plastic material, and containing an inert gel and spray-dried K2EDTA anticoagulant for the purpose of plasma separation. During centrifugation, the gel moves to create a physical barrier between the plasma and the majority of cellular components. Importantly, the tube utilizes spray-dried K2EDTA, rather than liquid additives, ensuring that the obtained plasma remains undiluted.
